Because teenagers and young adults are becoming more conscious about their bodies, the number of people with eating disorders has increased in recent years. However, some of the people that surround these teenagers and young adults are typically dismissive of what they are suffering from.
Here are four tips that can help you be more sensitive and supportive of someone who is suffering from eating disorders.
Encourage them to seek treatment
Many people with eating disorders like bulimia or anorexia are afraid to seek treatment because they are afraid that they would be shamed. However, if there are people that encourage them to attend a treatment session, it just may push them to go to the center.
Just make sure that you do not force them to do it. Let them know the importance of treatment and how it will benefit them in the long run. Call a facility that has treatments for Anorexia to help your friends suffering from eating disorders.
